Quick change

The Toyota Center will change its look more times than Cher in the next week.

Tonight, the Tri-Cities Fever plays the Wenatchee Venom in an exhibition game. After the game, the Toyota Center staff will work through the night to change the building from a football field back into the ice rink that is home to the Tri-City Americans. The Ams will play Chilliwack on Friday and Spokane on Saturday.

After Saturday's hockey game, the ice will be covered and a portable basketball floor will be laid for the Harlem Globetrotters game Sunday afternoon. After the Globetrotters are done, the basketball court will get dismantled and the ice comes back for Americans games Monday, Tuesday and Friday — not to mention that the rink staff will be turning the ice pink for Friday's breast cancer awareness game against Seattle.

After Friday's hockey game, the AstroTurf gets rolled out again for the Fever's game against the Arizona Adrenaline.

I believe calling in sick for the next week will be frowned upon.

The Saskatoon Blades moved up from No. 3 to No. 2 in this week's CHL poll. The Saint John Sea Dogs (45-5-1-2) are first. The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors are third, followed by the Montreal Juniors, Red Deer Rebels, Quebec Remparts, Niagara IceDogs, Owen Sound Attack, Portland Winterhawks and Ottawa 67's.

The Seattle Thunderbirds will play the Vancouver Giants on FSN at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night. I know the Ams are at home, but you can set your TiVo you have the need for more hockey.
