Today in the Tri-Cities, the WSU Board of Regents said design work could begin on proposed Martin Stadium improvements, including premium seats, a 100,000-square-foot football operations center and a new press box. The design phase will help solidify the cost of the construction, and the goal is that all work on the stadium should be done before the 2013 season.
As a WSU alumna, I'm glad the cost will be covered by donations and premium seat revenues, not by the students, whose tuition is skyrocketing every year. I hope athletic director Bill Moos sticks to that plan.
This weekend's UW/WSU men's basketball game in Pullman is expected to be a big draw. Only 650 tickets remain for Sunday's 7 p.m. contest. I checked the ticket website, and upper corner baseline seats (Sections 3-10 and 18-25) can be purchased for $20 each. Tickets are $15 for seniors 60 and over and children 2 to 18.
