Spokane's Reid out of action

Spokane's starting goalie James Reid is sideline indefinitely with an ankle injury, which will throw Mac Engel in the net for the foreseeable future.

Reid, who holds the Chiefs' franchise record for wins with 78, was hurt Sunday in a 5-4 OT loss in Portland.

“Adversity, you always find what you’re made of,” Spokane coach Don Nachbaur told the Spokesman Review. “We can’t sit here and mope. Other guys are going to have to play better. I think we’ll be fine.”

Engel, who has played in 13 games but is winless in six decisions, starts Wednesday against Everett and likely Friday against Chilliwack and Saturday against Tri-City, all at Spokane Arena. Engel (0-4-2-1) has a 3.19 GAA and an .873 save percentage.
