Big girls matchups on tap

With just three weeks left in the regular season for girls basketball, this weekend features some key matchups.

In CBBN 4A play, Chiawana seeks revenge, hosting Moses Lake at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The Chiefs defeated the Riverhawks in overtime earlier this season. The teams are in a three-way tie atop the standings with Richland.

In CBBN 3A play, Kamiakin travels to third-place West Valley on Friday. The Braves will hope to continue their undefeated league run.

On Saturday, Hanford hosts West Valley as the teams battle for seeding in the playoffs.

In CWAC 2A play, Prosser will try to bounce back from its first loss of the season — suffered Monday to defending Idaho state champion Coeur d’Alene — hosting Ephrata at 6 p.m. Friday and traveling to Selah at the same time Saturday.

Grandview hosts Othello and East Valley this weekend, as the Greyhounds are riding a two-game winning streak after losing six-of-seven.

SCAC East play kicks off tonight with Mabton hosting Columbia-Burbank. The teams are tied for fourth place in leauge play.

Burbank then turns around and hosts co-leader Kiona-Benton on Friday. River View will go for its second consecutive upset, hosting Connell on Saturday. The Panthers sent Kiona-Benton to its first league loss last week.

Be sure and pick up a copy of the paper to get results on all of the games.

I’ll be headed to Chiawana on Friday to see Moses Lake. On Saturday, I’m headed to Hanford to watch the Falcons for the first time this season.

It’ll also be the first time I’ve been to Hanford High School. Hopefully I don’t get lost like I did trying to find Connell High School and Prosser’s football field. I drove all over Prosser, which really isn’t a very big town. I think I have possibly been on every street in that fair city, but I digress.
