2011 WSU, UW football schedules announced

Here's how the landscape looks for WSU next year, when the Pac-12 begins play:

Sept. 3: Idaho State

Sept. 10: UNLV

Sept. 17: at San Diego State

Oct. 1: at Colorado

Oct. 8: at UCLA

Oct. 15: Stanford

Oct. 22: Oregon State

Oct. 29: at Oregon

Nov. 5: at California

Nov. 12: Arizona State

Nov. 19: Utah

Nov. 26: at Washington

With Colorado and Utah on the schedule, that means Arizona and USC will have to wait until 2012.

And here's the UW schedule:

Sept. 3: Eastern Washington

Sept. 10: Hawaii

Sept. 17: at Nebraska

Sept. 24: California

Oct. 1: at Utah

Oct. 15: Colorado

Oct. 22: at Stanford

Oct. 29: Arizona

Nov. 5: Oregon

Nov. 12: at USC

Nov. 19: at Oregon State

Nov. 26: Washington State

In the meantime, the Cougs face Cal on Saturday in Pullman. The Golden Bears will start Brock Mansion at quarterback in place of the injured Kevin Riley. Mansion has appeared in just nine games in three years. Any other weekend, this might have seemed like a possible victory for WSU, but given last week's throttling in Tempe, nothing is certain. As for the Huskies, they will face No. 1 Oregon at Autzen Stadium. Good luck, UW.

If you're eager to move past football season, basketball season starts tonight. The WSU men - who have been picked by the media to finish fifth in the Pac-10 - begin exhibition play at Beasley Coliseum's Friel Court. Tipoff is at 6 p.m. On Saturday, preseason favorite UW will play host to Saint Martins at 5 p.m.
