Kennewick High graduate Devon Bouvier and DeSales grad Cesar Lopez were first-team selections for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-conference baseball team this week.

Bouvier, a senior outfielder, hit .358 for the 34-15 Wolves. Lopez, a senior shortstop, hit .286 with six home runs.

Kennewick High graduate Landon Scott was named to the first team of the All-Northwest Conference baseball squad this week.

Scott, a sophomore, led Whitworth with a .465 batting average.

Scott’s teammate, designated hitter Kyle Krustangel (who also played at Big Bend) was named to the second team. He had nine home runs and hi8t .372.

Whitworth outfielder Kevin Valerio (Kennewick), who hit .340 and stole 11 bases, was an honorable mention choice.

George Fox catcher Josh Rapacz (Richland) and Whitman pitcher Blaine Mercado (Walla Walla) were honorable mention selections. Rapacz hit .348 this season, while Mercado had 13 starts and pitched 86 innings for the Missionaries.


Sophomore outfielder Megan Antonovich, who graduated from Pasco, was named to the second team to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-conference squad.

Antonovich hit .299 for the 20-35 Saints.

Talissa Huntsman, a Richland High graduate, was named to the second team of the All-Northwest Conference squad while playing at Willamette University. Huntsman hit .333 with four homers and 24 RBIs.

Jordan Mittlesdorf, a sophomore catcher from Riverside High now playing for Pacific, was named honorable mention. Middlesdorf hit .255 with two home runs.


The 21st annual Children’s Development Center tournament will be held today at Canyon Lakes Golf Course in Kennewick.

Several former Seattle Seahawks are expected to participate in the best-ball scrambler format. Shotgun starts are at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, The WSU Cougars are coming to Meadow Springs on May 17 for the Sterling Savings Bank Tri-Cities Cougar Golf Classic. Lunch is at 11 a.m., the shotgun start is at noon, social hour is 5 p.m., and the banquet is at 6 p.m.

Football coach Paul Wulff, basketball coaches Ken Bone and June Daugherty, and new athletic director Bill Moos are expected to be in attendance.

Kennewick’s Kevin Tucker, who is a senior at WSU, was selected to play in the NCAA regionals at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton on May 20-22.

Tucker was named second-team All-Pacific-10 Conference earlier this month.

Hanford High graduate Alex Moore fired a 5-under 67 to earn medalist honors at his local qualifying event for the U.S. Open on Monday at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore.

Moore advances to sectional qualifying, set for June 7.

The 13th annual WSU Cougar Tailgate Party is set for June 18 at TRAC in Pasco.

Cost is $30 for Athletic Foundation Members, or $40 for everyone else.
