Quick hits on collegians

Here are some short notes concerning college athletes from our region, andsome who will be.

Brittany Cherry, a Pasco High graduate who also played at Columbia Basin College, was named Cascade Collegiate Conference player of the week in women’s basketball on Monday.

The 5-10 junior averaged 10.5 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 assists for OregonInstitute of Technology in a 61-54 win over Northwest Christian and a 60-54victory over Corban. Both victories were of the come-from-behind variety.

The first batch of letters-of-intent for NWAACC schools are out.

Jessica Baken of East Valley has signed to play women’s soccer at CBC. Sohas Pasco’s Amber Craig, Richland’s Olivia Diaz, Kamiakin’s Shelby Gunionand Pasco’s Mahaley Sapp.

Sami Hansen out of Borah High School in Boise will play for the Walla WallaCommunity College women’s soccer team.

Richland’s Nick Wood has committed to the WWCC men’s soccer team.
