Dust Devils fans will certainly remember seeing Colorado Rockies' 2008 first-round pick Christian Friedrich in action at Gesa Stadium before a late-season promotion to Asheville. The left-hander tossed 36 innings for the Dust Devils, finishing with a 2-1 record and a 3.25 ERA in eight starts.
He started last season with Asheville and got a mid-season call-up to Modesto, where he finished the year with a 3-2 record, a 2.54 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 74 1/3 innings.
Well apparently the Rockies can't wait to give him a shot at the big time. SportsTricities.com managing editor Eric Degerman passed this along from RotoWire on Sunday:
Christian Friedrich was invited to big-league spring training, Jack Etkin of insidetherockies.comreports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Rockies' rotation is pretty much set at this point, butit's not too soon for keeper leagues to start thinking about his future. Dependingon spring training, Friedrich could see some time in the majors this season, eitheras injury insurance or as a September call up.
