Chet Pickard is humble. The Americans veteran goalie won his 87th game Saturday in a 5-3 win over Vancouver and is the winningest goalie in franchise history.
Pickard was tied with former teammate and friend, Carey Price, with 83 wins, and broke the record last week with with a victory over Chilliwack. Want to know what he had to say about his milestone?
“Wins are a team stat,” Pickard said. “It shows how good of teams I’ve played on. (The record ) is something ... I don’t know how much it means to me now, but I’m sure I’ll look back on it later and remember the guys who helped me get there.
“I got a text from Olie (Kolzig) saying ‘congrats.’ There have been a lot of good goalies come through here and I just want to be the next to follow in their footsteps.”
