Real Salt Lake scores late twice to save tie

Alvaro Saborio scored goals in the 90th minute and in added time, and Real Salt Lake extended its unbeaten streak to 14 with a 2-2 tie against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday night in Commerce City, Colo.

Real Salt Lake (15-4-11) appeared headed for defeat before Saborio sent a shot past goalkeeper Matt Pickens in the 90th minute. Saborio also added a goal on a penalty kick in extra time.

Omar Cummings and Conor Casey scored goals for Colorado (12-8-10). Cummings has 14 goals for the season and nine in his past nine games. Casey has 13 goals.

The Rapids ended their four-year playoff drought by wrapping up a berth last weekend. They will open the playoffs against either Los Angeles or Columbus.

At Wizards 4, Earthquakes 1: San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski edged into the league scoring lead, but Birahim Diop’s first MLS hat trick overshadowed Wondolowski’s single goal and helped Kansas City (11-13-6) beat San Jose.

Wondolowski’s 70th-minute goal was his 18th of the season for the Earthquakes (13-10-7), extending his club record and moving him one ahead of Los Angeles’ Edson Buddle. He has scored San Jose’s past 10 goals, also extending his own record.

Toronto F.C. 3, at United 2: Dwayne De Rosario scored twice after halftime to spoil Jaime Moreno’s farewell and propel Toronto F.C. (9-13-8) over United (6-20-4) in both teams’ season finale.

Moreno put United up 2-1 on a 39th-minute penalty kick for his 133rd career MLS goal to retake sole possession – at least temporarily – of first place on the league’s career list.

Fire 4, at Chivas USA 1: Brian McBride scored in his final game and ex-Sounder Freddie Ljungberg added a goal and an assist to lead Chicago (9-12-9) over Chivas USA (8-18-4).
