Bennington Lake near Walla Walla has been closed to all boating and boat launching because of the Blue Creek Fire, according to the Army Corps of Engineers.
Boats or watercraft of any kind could interfere with helicopter operations for firefighting. The public may continue to use recreation facilities on the lake's shore and at Rooks Park.
Three roads also have been closed by the U.S. Forest Service for public and firefighter safety.
Closures include: Skyline Road between the junctions of Forest Roads 4600 and 6500; Tiger Canyon Road from the forest boundary to Forest Road 6400 and Intake Trail from the forest boundary to Forest Road 6400.
The fire is burning 10 miles east of Walla Walla on state and private lands adjacent to the Umatilla National Forest.
