Volunteers are needed to spend the summer as campground hosts in the Umatilla National Forest.
Hosts provide information on the area, visit with campers and day-use visitors, clean and maintain restrooms, occasionally clean up after campers and perform minor maintenance.
Hosts, many of them retired couples, are provided a campsite, an allowance for food and propane, and mileage reimbursement. They use their own tent, camper or motor home.
Hosts are needed at lakeside and river campgrounds. Bull Prairie Lake Campground is on a 28-acre lake 36 miles south of Heppner, Ore. Call 541-676-2111 for information.
Olive Lake Campground sits on a 90-acre high mountain lake 12 miles southwest of Granite, Ore. The North Fork John Day Campground is on the North Fork John Day River and serves as a gateway to adjacent wilderness.
For information on either, call 541-427-5394.
