Milder weather conditions have allowed the easing of fire restrictions in the Umatilla National Forest in time for Labor Day weekend.
Campfires are allowed in fire pits surrounded by dirt, rock or commercial rings and must be surrounded by a radius of 5 feet without burnable material and be free of overhanging limbs or other burnable material. A similar clearing is required for use of charcoal briquettes. Some portable cooking stoves are allowed.
