UMATILLA -- Ronald Hobbs Jr., of Orting, leads the pro division after the first day of competition at the FLW Series National Guard Western Division bass tournament on the Columbia River.
Hobbs weighed five bass at the Umatilla Marina for a total of 17 pounds, 11 ounces. He went through the locks at McNary and headed north up the river for about 75 miles before catching his fish.
Kennewick's Ron Mace is the highest-placing Mid-Columbian among the pros, sitting in 11th at 12-2.
Gary Haraguchi of Brentwood, Calif., leads the Co-angler Division with five bass weighing 11-15. Othello's Santos Garza is the highest-placing Mid-Columbian among the co-anglers, sitting in 11th at 7-8.

The tournament continues today, with the anglers leaving the Umatilla Marina at 6:30 a.m. The weigh-in begins at 2:30 p.m. at the marina.
