WHITE PASS -- Ski White Pass announced today that it will open at 8:45 a.m. Friday, a day earlier than scheduled.
"Snow conditions are improving, and we have a clear idea of what the snowpack is doing," general manager Kevin McCarthy said in a news release issued today. "Considering the current snowstorm and additional snow due over the next 48 hours, it is clear that we will be running both the Great White Quad and the platter on Friday."
Officials noted that guest should expect limited operations. And the opening of the White Pass Nordic Center is "uncertain."
Snow conditions at the ski resort, at the 4,500-foot elevation in the Cascade Mountains, as of 9:26 a.m. Wednesday were 24 inches at the base, and 28 inches at the summit. However, officials have been told to expect as much as 14 inches of snow to arrive before Friday.
