The Tri-City Americans promoted Dan Mulhausen to vice president of business operations and marketing communications, a role he has held in an interim position since Brian Sandy's departure in December. After joining the club prior to the start of the 2005-06 season as an account executive, Mulhausen, 30, has worked his way up from within the organization. In 2007, Mulhausen took over as the director of marketing, media relations and game operations and served in that position the past four years.
A 2005 graduate from the University of Oregon’s Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, Mulhausen previously spent two years working the sports desk at the Register-Guard newspaper in Eugene before joining the Americans. His first step into the sports business industry came in 2001, when he held the role of Promotions Coordinator with the Tri-City Dust Devils.
“Dan has done just an outstanding job since transitioning into this role after Brian’s departure,” Americans general manager Bob Tory said. “Not only was the transition seamless, we have seen a new emphasis placed on customer service, increased marketing initiatives and corporate sales, and a re-energized business staff. This is a well-deserved and earned promotion."
