Portland beats Ams 3-2

KENNEWICK -- Seth Swenson scored with 2:56 left in the game to lead the Portland Winterhawks to a 3-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Friday at the Red Lion Hotels Preseason Tournament at Toyota Center.

Mason Wilgosh and Justin Feser each scored for the Americans, who have lost both of their games at the tournament.

Goaltender Ty Rimmer suffered his first loss of the preseason, stopping 24 of 27 shots.

Ryley Bennefield and Joey Baker also scored for the Winterhawks (1-1-0-1).

In other games, Everett scored three goals in the second period en route to a 3-1 win over Kootenay, and rookie Zach Rakochy had 22 saves in Spokane's 1-0 win over Seattle.

The Americans (2-2) will play Spokane at 7:05 p.m. today. In other games today, Seattle plays Everett at 11 a.m., while Kootenay and Portland square off at 3 p.m.
