Ams to face Giants in Western finals

KENNEWICK -- The Tri-City Americans will play the Vancouver Giants for the Western Conference title after the Giants beat the Portland Winterhawks 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Vancouver won the best-of-7 series with Portland 4-2. The Giants lost to Kelowna in last year's conference finals in six games.

The Americans host the Giants on Friday at 7:05 p.m., and Saturday at 7:35 p.m.

The series shifts to Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver for Games 3 and 4 on April 20 and 22. Both games are at 7 p.m.

If necessary, Game 5 will be at Toyota Center at 1 p.m. on April 24, with Game 6 on April 26 in Vancouver. If Game 7 is needed, it would be at Toyota Center on April 27.

Brandon and Calgary will play for the Eastern Conference title starting Friday in Calgary. The Wheat Kings beat Saskatoon to advance, while the Hitmen beat Medicine Hat.
