CHILLIWACK, British Columbia -- Adam Hughesman scored two goals and Carter Ashton added a goal and two assists to lift the Tri-City Americans over the Chilliwack Bruins 6-1 on Sunday at Prospera Centre in British Columbia.
Tyler Schmidt assisted on the Ams' first two goals by Brendon Shinnimin and Hughesman before the Bruins answered with a goal.
But Ashton delivered the final goal of the first period to give Tri-City a 3-1 lead. Kruise Reddick, Hughesman and David Conrad all delivered third-period goals for the Ams to cap the scoring.
Americans goalie Chris Driedger stopped 20 of 21 shots to improve his record to 2-1.

Tri-City (35-15-2-1, 73 points) gained a half-game on U.S. Division leader Portland (38-16-0-3, 79) and a full game on second place Spokane (34-16-4-2, 74), which lost 3-1 to Seattle.
