CALGARY, Alberta -- Tri-City Americans forward Brendan Shinnimin was named Western Hockey League player of the month for January after scoring 11 goals, handing out 18 assists and posting a plus-15 rating.
The Americans were 10-2-1-0 in January, including a seven-game stretch during which Tri-City went undefeated in regulation.
Shinnimin, 19, is on a 20-game point streak that started Dec. 10. His 67 points rank him seventh in WHL scoring in just 36 games -- he was suspended for 12 games Oct. 6 for checking-from-behind penalty against Saskatoon's Josh Nicholls.
