SPOKANE -- The Tri-City Americans, even with the return of Brendan Shinnimin, couldn't muster any offense Saturday night, falling 5-0 on the road to the Spokane Chiefs in a Western Hockey League game.
James Reid stopped 20 shots and five different players scored goals as the Chiefs shut out the Americans in front of 9,816 fans in the Spokane Arena.
With the loss, the Americans fall into a second-place tie in the U.S. Division with the Seattle Thunderbirds with 24 points.
Spokane is just three points out of second place.
Kenton Miller, Anthony Bardaro, Levko Koper, Blake Gal and Tyler Johnson each scored for the Chiefs.
Saturday's game marked the return to the ice for Shinnimin, who has sat out with a 12-game suspension since a checking-from-behind penalty Oct. 6 against Kelowna.
