Ninety-degree temperatures in late June may not conjure visions of hockey sticks and goalie masks for most people, but Tri-City Americans fans will no doubt be happy to learn the puck drops on the preseason in a little over two months.
The Ams, coming off their best WHL finish as runners-up to Calgary for the Ed Chynoweth Cup, will open their 2010-11 campaign at the Everett Silvertips Preseason Tourna-ment on Sept. 3-5.
The Everett tournament will include a matchup with the OHL's Sault Ste. Marie.
The preseason schedule, released Monday along with the rest of the WHL exhibition slate, is comprised of eight games and includes the team's annual Red Lion Preseason Tournament on Sept. 9-12. The Toyota Center tournament will include U.S. Division rivals Everett, Portland, Seattle and Spokane as well as Central Division foes Kootenay and Lethbridge.

The preseason schedule wraps with games at Kootenay on Sept. 16 and against Spokane at home Sept. 17.
Tickets for the Red Lions tournament are $10 adult, $7 student and $5 youth (3-9) per game, or $58.50, $40.50 and $33.75 for all nine games ($30, $25 and $20 for season-ticket holders including the six non-Americans games). Tickets to the Spokane game on Sept. 17 are $7.
