Shackleford brings back Hew Len

KENNEWICK -- The Tri-Cities Fever signed three more players for the 2011 season.

Fever coach Adam Shackleford re-signed wide receiver Joey Hew Len and added defensive end Christopher Lyle and defensive back Nick Patterson.

Hew Len, who is 6-foot-3, 220 pounds out of the University of Hawaii, played in seven games last season, catching 13 passes for 182 yards and one touchdown.

Lyle was a standout pass rusher at Iowa State University and is 6-3, 260 pounds.

He had 38 tackles for the Cyclones in 2009 and tied for the team lead with five sacks and had eight tackles for loss.

Patterson, at 6-2 and 200, played at Ohio State.

However, the Fever also lost players this week.

Ameer Ismail and Jairius Jarvis signed Arena Football League contracts with the Milwaukee Iron. Ismail played in seven games last season and was third on the team with 50 tackles.

Kicker Brett Jaekle also was released.
