Tri-Cities Fever

Fever will open 2011 at home

KENNEWICK -- For the most part, Tri-Cities Fever owner Teri Carr likes her team's schedule for the 2011 Indoor Football League season.

"It's not bad," Carr said Friday. "I don't like having a Sunday date, and I don't like having a game the night before Easter. Other than that, it's a pretty good schedule."

The Fever opens the season at home Saturday, Feb. 26, against the expansion Arizona Adrenaline.

Once again, the Fever will have seven home games and a 14-game schedule.

Among the highlights:

* Three games each against division opponents Fairbanks Grizzlies, Kent Predators and Wenatchee Venom. The Fever will travel to Wenatchee twice, while Kent and Fairbanks will come to the Tri-Cities twice.

* The team's out-of-division games will include a home-and-home series with both Arizona and the Colorado Ice; and a road game at Omaha on March 25.

* The Fever and Wenatchee will also play a preseason contest on Feb. 17, at Toyota Center, a week before the Fever's regular-season opener against Arizona.

* Tri-Cities plays at Kent on June 10 to end the regular season.

"I think we are going to see a lot of good teams this year," said Fever coach Adam Shackleford. "It's going to be nice to play some out of division games to see where we stack up against the rest of the conference."

The Fever finished 7-7 last season and made the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

The final count of teams in the IFL is 22, with 11 in the United Conference and 11 in the Intense Conference.
