Kennewick Outlaws eliminated from American Legion regionals

The Kennewick AAA Outlaws were eliminated from the American Legion Northwest Regional Tournament in Cheyenne, Wyo., with Friday’s 7-5 loss to Lakeside Recovery.

The Outlaws (37-18) were finished at the double-elimination tournament a day after losing to the Cheyenne Sixers 23-5.

Kennewick entered the top of the ninth with a one-run lead, but Lakeside scored three in the inning for what turned out to be the winning margin.

Larry DeWitt (Kennewick High School/Columbia Basin College) went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for the Outlaws. T.J. Rea had a double, and fellow Kennewick High standouts Dillon Plew, Josh Kutzke and Quentin LaFontaine each drove in a run.

Colton Plew (Kennewick) went 81/3 innings for the Outlaws, striking out five. However, he walked five and allowed seven runs — four earned — on nine hits. Kooper Blair (Prosser) gave up one hit and struck out two in two-thirds of an inning.
