Pitching lifts Southridge Bandits into title game

Brian Black and Trenton Nett were masterful on the mound, leading the Southridge Bandits to a pair of wins Saturday at the Dwight Church Memorial Classic at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho.

Black scattered three hits in a five-inning 8-0 shutout of the Northeast 49ers, and Nett followed by tossing six no-hit innings before Missoula scored three runs in the seventh in the Bandits’ 6-3 win.

The Southridge offense struck quickly in both games, scoring five runs in the first inning against the 49ers and had a 4-0 lead against Missoula after three innings.

Jake Harvey and Ethan Sanders combined to score five runs in the opener. In the nightcap, Tate Spivey and Matthew Oldham each drove in two runs.

The Bandits will take on the Treasure Valley Stars at 2:30 p.m. today before playing in the championship game at 7:30 p.m.
