Kennewick Dusters earn No. 3 seed to AA Legion state tourney

The Kennewick Dusters rebounded from Monday’s 6-3 loss to Yakima Valley in Wenatchee with a 4-2 win over Walla Walla at Southridge High School on Tuesday to earn the final berth to the AA state legion tournament beginning Saturday in Spokane.

Corey Schouviller pitched a complete game against Walla Walla, recording seven strikeouts and no walks, while Mikey Jones provided all the offense he would need for support with a three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to give the Bandits a 3-1 lead.

Kaden Enriquez led Kennewick against Yakima Valley with two RBIs.

The Legion office released the state brackets Tuesday, and the Kennewick Dusters will will play Capital at 2:30 p.m. in the Whitworth University bracket in the first round, while the Bandits will face Chehalis at 4 p.m. in the A.K. Jackson bracket.

Senior Legion AAA State: The Kennewick Bandits and Hanford Flames received their first-round pairings for the state Legion tournament beginning Saturday at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

Kennewick will face Mason at 9 a.m. in the tournament opener, while Hanford will open against the Spokane Bandits at noon.

Junior Legion A State: The Kennewick Bandits A will play the Central Valley Bears at 10 a.m. Saturday in the first round of the Junior Legion A state tournament at Sherman Anderson Park in Mount Vernon. The Kennewick Pepsi Cola Dusters will then face the Aberdeen Swamp Hawks at 12:30 p.m.

Little League 11s: Richland National defeated Bainbridge Island 3-1 to stay alive at the state tournament at Stan Hedwall Park in Chehalis.

Richland beat Sedro Wooley 18-5 on Monday, piling up 15 hits on the day, including triples by Scott Artzer and Max Mayer, who also added a two-run home run.

Silas Templeton got the start for Richland, setting down the first six Sedro Wooley batters with three strikeouts.

Richland National will play the Mercer Island-Cascade loser at 5 p.m. today for the right to advance in the consolation bracket. Richland will have to win three more games over the next three days to reach the championship game.

Cal Ripken 12’s 70-foot: Kennewick National will face Meridian, Idaho on the first day of the Pacific Northwest Regional tournament in Meridian. The game will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Cal Ripken 11s: Kennewick American will play two games to open the Pacific Northwest Regional tournament in Meridian. Kennewick will play Northern Oregon at 7:30 a.m. and then turn around and play Southern Oregon at 3 p.m.
