Local teams get roughed up at state tournaments
Mount Saint Helens jumped out to a 7-0 lead en route to a 14-6 win over Richland on Thursday in the Babe Ruth 13s state tournament in Camas. Garrett Horner and Alex Rosales had multi-hit games for Richland.
Richland also faced Longview at 7 p.m. Thursday in a game that ran late.
Richland will face Camas/Washougal at 4 p.m. today and finish out pool play against Twin Cities at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Babe Ruth 14s: Kennewick suffered a 28-2 loss to Hazel Dell Metro at the Babe Ruth 14s state tournament at Roy Johnson Field in Kennewick. In two games, Kennewick has been outscored 43-3.
Kennewick also played Pasco in the late game Thursday.
Today, Pasco will take on Twin Cities at 9 a.m. and has a late battle Camas/Washougal at 3 p.m., while Kennewick will face Twin Cities at 6 p.m.
Babe Ruth 15s: Kennewick will take on Richland at 10 a.m. to kick off Day 3 of pool play at WF West High School in Chehalis. Richland will also face Willa Harbor at 4 p.m.
Kennewick National fund raiser: Kennewick National Youth Baseball 12U team is heading to Pacific Northwest regionals in Meridian, Idaho, from July 22-26. Little LeagueLL 9-10s: Walla Walla Valley continued to roll through the competition at the Little League 9/10s state tournament at Badger Mountain Park in Richland. After winning it’s first three games, Walla Walla beat Thunderbird 9-4 on Wednesday to advance to the state championship game Saturday at 10 a.m.
Walla Walla has outscored opponents 45-13 in four games. They will find out their opponent today, when Thunderbird takes on the Mill Creek-West Valley winner at 6:30 p.m. The winner will play in the championship game but will have to beat Walla Walla twice to advance to the Little League Western Regional tournament.
LL 11-12s: Federal Way advanced to Saturday’s championship final with a 16-6 win over North Bothell, who will face the Pacific-West Seattle winner for a spot in the championship game at Bar-S Playground in Seattle.
Little League Juniors: West Valley topped Chinook/BLS/SV 5-3 Wednesday and will face the District 7 champion at 5:30 p.m. today in the championship semifinals in Vancouver. The winner will face the winner of the consolation bracket at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Little League Seniors: Richmond and Lewis River met late Thursday in the championship game at Meridian Park School. Richmond lost its second game but won three in a row to earn a spot in the final.
