Kennewick Bandits top Central Washington
The Kennewick Bandits hammered out 19 runs on 22 hits Tuesday in a Central Washington League Senior American Legion sweep of Central Washington.
Austin Morfin went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three runs scored, while Dylan Wilbert and Dillon Plew combined for five RBIs in an 11-2 Game 1 win.
Plew drove in two more in a 4-1 Game 2 victory, and Josh Kutzke blasted a two-run homer. Colton Plew pitched two scoreless innings to get the save.
Junior Legion: Jake Kirchoff went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Matthew Oldham struck out eight batters in five innings as the Southridge Bandits AA topped the Richland Knights 8-4 in a CWL junior legion game at Bomber Field.
Lakota Wills led Richland, going 2-for-3.
The win completed a three-game sweep after the Bandits shut out the Knights twice Tuesday in Kennewick, 2-0 and 7-0.
— The Kennewick Phantoms topped the Pasco Junior Sun Devils 11-5 in CWL junior legion play. The Phantoms also beat the Sun Devils twice on Tuesday, beating them 12-2 and 13-3.
Little League 9-10 Districts: Richland National defeated Yakima National 17-3 at the District 12 tournament, as Nate Gray and Grant Watkins each had three hits and combined with Jacob Bilodeau to allow just three hits.
Little League 12s: The District 12 Little League tournament gets under way today at West Valley in Yakima with four games.
Selah plays Pasco at 4 p.m.; Yakima National takes on Richland National at 6:30 p.m.; East Valley battles Benton City at 4 p.m.; and Greater Richland plays West Valley at 6:30 p.m.
