The Kennewick Senior Bandits opened their 2014 American Legion season with a 4-0 and 2-1 nonleague doubleheader sweep on the road over the Walla Walla Bears on Friday.
In the opener, Matt Driver, Mark Driver and Connor Morfin combined on a five-hit shutout.
Dillon Plew and Dylan Wilbert each had two hits for the Bandits, with Wilbert getting two doubles and driving in three runs.
In the nightcap, Colton Plew, Gerald Hein, Levi Scantlin and Kooper Blair combined on a six-hitter. Dillon Plew, Steven Sordahl and Malik Sitler each had two hits for the Bandits.
The Bandits next play host to the Hanford Flames — the defending Washington state champions — in the Central Washington League opener for both teams at 2 p.m. today at Columbia Basin College.
HANFORD 10-0, MOSCOW 3-11: Desmond Samples and Chase Becker each had two hits to lead the Hanford AA Flames to a 10-3 nonleague win over visiting Moscow.
The Idaho team won the nightcap, but Dustin Durflinger had two hits for the Flames (8-2 overall).

Kennewick A sweeps Moses Lake: The Kennewick Bandits A team swept the Moses Lake Sun Devils in four games over the last two days.
The Bandits won 11-3 and 7-2 on Friday, then won 10-0 and 12-7 on Saturday. Lane Hailey, Casey Proctor and Calee Beal each had two hits in the first game Friday, while Sergio Midili scattered two hits over five innings in the nightcap.
On Saturday, Jake Harvey pitched four innings of no-hit ball in the opener, then collected two hits in the nightcap.
