Phantoms trip Jr. Bandits to win Bash
KENNEWICK -- The Kennewick Phantoms took home the Junior Bandit Bash title with a 6-4 win over the tournament host Kennewick Junior Bandits at Southridge High School.
Colton and Dillon Plew had two hits apiece for the Phantoms in the championship, while Kaden Julian and Dylan Wilbert provided three hits apiece.
And Larry DeWitt had two RBIs as the Phantoms opened the day with an 11-9 edging of the Burbank Diamondbacks in a semifinal at Roy Johnson Field.
"It was a good balanced effort," said Phantoms coach Corey Nelson, who also credited his pitchers one and all for supplying the breathing room needed to reach the victory.
"The ability to throw strikes was our strength in the tournament," he said. "Our young kids stepped up today."
