Bandits, Titans ousted at state

The Kennewick Bandits and the Twin City Titans saw their seasons come to an end Tuesday at the AAA American Legion state tournament at Heidelberg-Davis Park in Tacoma.

The Bandits (41-18) were the first of the two crossriver rivals removed from the double-elimination tournament with a 15-5 loss to the Yakima Valley Pepsi Pak.

"The last two days our Achilles heel was exposed, and that was our depth of pitching," said Kennewick coach Gary Key.

Landon Scott led the Kennewick offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Twin City (36-22) was sent packing after a 12-2 loss to Lakeside Recovery, which stayed unbeaten in the tournament. Lakeside Recovery will play the Yakima Pepsi Pak 5 p.m. today for the championship. If Lakeside loses, a rematch will follow at 8 p.m.
