UPDATE 5:30: Mother Nature won Saturday afternoon. Winds created too much rough water, causing the postponement of the second round of Gold Cup heats.
Those races will be run Sunday, as well as two more sets of preliminary heats.
The Gold Cup final is set for 4:40 pm Sunday.

UPDATE 4:45: Wind estimated at 20 mph has caused whitecaps on the river that could prove disastrous to the unlimiteds. That is causing a delay with the schedule. The next race, which was scheduled for 4:10 p.m., is now set for 5:05 p.m.

It looks like the winds could be a factor on the river today. In the day's first heat for Grand Prix West boats, the GP-74 Maaco of Kent, driven by Rob Hall, flipped on the Franklin County side of the course on the second lap.
The boat landed upside down, but five rescue sleds converged immediately on the boat.
The escape hatch at the bottom of the boat was opened and Hall was extracted and taken to the medical trailer.
