Heavy rains in the Madison, Ind., region have delayed the beginning of the Lucas Oil Madison Regatta unlimited hydroplane race this weekend.
The Ohio River’s water level has risen enough that the pit area has water in it, but more importantly, more floating debris in the river — making it unsafe for the drivers.
Thursday was scheduled to be set-up day, but that has moved to Friday.
Testing, qualifying and the first set of heats are now scheduled for Saturday, while the final two sets of heats and the final are scheduled for Sunday.
