Jimmy King took Heat 1B when Jean Theoret, in the U-37 Miss Beacon Plumbing, tried to settle into lane 1 well before the 1-minute mark. On the East end turn, and less than a minute before the start, Theoret lost power to his boat.
That allowed King in the U-3 Todd Hoss Mortgage Too to come by and easily take lane 1. He was never threatened and took the victory easily. Theoret was able to restart his boat in time to take second place, while Greg Hopp finished third in the U-100 MirageBoats.com.
J.Michael Kelly lost power in his U-13 Graham Trucking before the race even started and received a DNS.
