Jones, Still win at Northwest Scoring Clash
Gonzaga’s Maggie Jones and Eastern Washington’s Larry Still, both former Richland standouts, were winners at the Northwest Scoring Clash (WAR IX) at Spokane Falls Community College.
Jones won the women’s 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 36.53 seconds. Still was the men’s pole vault champion with a mark of 15 feet, 11 inches.
Eastern Washington’s Katie Mahoney (Richland) finished second in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.95, behind Whitworth’s Kayla Leland (2:11.82).
Central Washington’s Stephanie Rexus (Kamiakin) placed second in the women’s 10,000 (37:36.83), while teammate Angelique Whistocken (Kennewick) took third in the women’s javelin (145-4).
Saint Martin’s Skyler Larson (Tri-Cities Prep) finished fourth in the men’s 5,000 (15:27.32). Washington State’s Brendan Rexus (Kamiakin) tied for fourth in the high jump (6-63/4).
Tennis
Whitworth’s Shane Sandlin (Hanford) teamed with Caleb Hughes to beat Whitman’s Phillip Locklear and Petar Jivkov 9-8 at No. 2 doubles in Saturday’s Northwest Conference match in Walla Walla.
Whitman won the match 7-2.
▪ Trent Prussing (Richland) beat Noel Oteng-Mensah 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 in men’s No. 1 singles Saturday to help Linfield College defeat Pacific Lutheran University 7-2.
