Pasco’s Jalayne Martinez and Richland’s Danika Palm each won their Round of 16 match to advance to the quarterfinals at the Pacific Northwest Junior Girls’ Amateur Championship at RedHawk Gold Course in Nampa, Idaho.
Palm beat Hailey Oster of Camas 5 and 4 to advance, while Martinez topped Kaitlynn Deeble of Boise 3 and 1.
The two Tri-Citians will meet each other in a quarterfinal match this morning.
In another first-round match, Samantha Hui of Kennewick lost 2 and 1 to Abby Euyang of Seattle.

• Sam Warkentin of Bainbridge Island and Joshua Gliege of Eagle, Idaho, finished tied for first in stroke play at the Pacific Northwest Junior Boys’ Amateur Championship at Wildhorse Resort in Pendleton.
Both finished at 9-under-par 135, as match play begins this morning featuring the top 32 placers. Players who win will advance to the Round of 16 to be played this afternoon.
That will include former Hanford High golfer Ezra Arneson (now living in Lynden), who tied for 10th with a 141; and Richland’s Nick Yamauchi, who tied for 27th at 146.
Missing the cut for the Round of 32 are West Richland’s Carl Underwood (147), Richland’s Rhett Levin (155), Hermiston’s Andres Lind (157), and Walla Walla’s Alex Johanson (159).
