Charles Tipke-Henry hit a two-run home run in the second inning to help Kennewick American to a 3-2 victory over Mountain Home, Ark., on Tuesday at the Cal Ripken 10-Year-Old World Series in Jonesboro, Ark.
With the win, KA improved to 2-1 in pool play. Its final pool-play game will be at 2 p.m. today against Visalia, Calif. The top three teams in each pool advance to bracket play.
KA took a 1-0 lead after the first, only to see Arkansas tie things up in the top of the second. Tipke-Henry’s homer in the bottom of the inning proved to be the difference.
Mountain Home outhit Kennewick 7-3 but stranded 10 runners on base compared with three for KA.

Braxden Salazar allowed two runs over four innings of work for KA, striking out three and walking one.
Masen Walker and Landon Luna each hit a double for Arkansas, while Caleb McGowin was 2-for-3. Connor Glasgow took the loss.
