Former Richland High School swimmer Lisa Bratton was 23rd overall in the 100-meter backstroke preliminaries Friday at the Phillips 66 National Championships in San Antonio.
The Tri-City Channel Cats club swimmer, who will start her sophomore year at Texas A&M University in a few weeks, finished fifth in her heat with a time of 1 minute, 1.92 seconds. She entered as the No. 28 seed with a time of 1:02.01.
Bratton, 19, did not compete in the “C” final because of a rule limiting that final to 18-and-under swimmers. She will race today in the 400 individual medley, where she’s looking to obtain a 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials time cut.
• Three Tri-Citians were part of the Inland Empire’s 12th-place finish in the boys 10-and-under 200-meter medley relay at the Western Zone Age Group Championships on Thursday in Kihei, Hawaii.

Pasco’s Andrew Jones (breaststroke), Kennewick’s Luc Johnson (butterfly) and Pasco’s Andy Gelston (freestyle) teamed with Pullman’s Jake McCoy (backstroke) to finish in 2:36.26.
In the boys 12-and-under 200 medley relay, Richland’s Ryan Monrean swam the opening backstroke leg to help the Inland Empire team take 14th (2:13.18).
The Pasco Fury 13U team won its first bracket game at the Triple Crown World Series in Steamboat Springs, Colo., beating the Ralston Valley Vipers 11-1 in five innings.
The Fury continues bracket play today against the Play Hard Birdz from Pasadena, Calif.
Against the Vipers, Riley Cissne led the way, going 3-for-4 with a double and a triple. Bridger Feldman was 2-for-4 with two doubles and drove in the first two runs of the game, while Evan Wagner and Eden Blanco each went 2-for-3.
Logan Mercado picked up the win, scattering four hits.
