2002 -- Nate Brown driving the U-16 Miss E-Lam Plus held off the rest of the field to win the Budweiser Columbia Cup, posting his fourth win in six races. Dave Villwock in the U-1 Miss Budweiser was Brown's biggest challenger, but he got sideways and cleared out two buoys for a one-lap penalty.

1987 -- Vinnie Dejoia scattered three hits, struck out nine and walked one to lead the Kennewick Dusters to a 4-0 win over the Yakima Beetles in the opener of a split District V American Legion league doubleheader at LaPierre Field. Yakima scored six runs in the first inning of the nightcap to defeat the Dusters 11-4.

1974 -- Richland's Clint Knox posted a 6-2, 7-5 win over twin brother Clyde Knox of Portland to win the senior men's division championship at the Washington State men's tennis tournament in Seattle. The two reached the final of the Oregon state senior earlier in the summer, but delayed playing the match until later when Clint's back was hurting.
