Schur, Painter lead 3 Rivers Multi-Sport Series

Kennewick's Brian Schur and Richland's Jimalee Painter are the men's and women's points leaders at the midpoint of the Three Rivers Multi-Sport Series.

Schur collected 108.74 points at the Rage in the Sage Mountain Bike Duathlon in April, 133.97 at the Fiasco in Pasco Road Bike Duathlon in May and 96.40 at the Righteous Richland Sprint Mountain Bike Triathlon in June for a combined 339.11 points.

Painter earned 105.01 points at Rage, 128.14 at Fiasco and 90.17 at RRST for a total of 323.32 points.

Points are decided 50-50: half based on the championship time and half on the age group winner's time. The total is weighted against the race's degree of difficulty, with the Titanium Man rated most challenging at 1.0.

The next challenges in the six-event series are the Power of Pasco Sprint Triathlon on Aug. 4 in Pasco and the Aquaman Duathlon on Aug. 17 in Richland.

The Titanium Man, a 1.5-kilometer swim followed by a 40K bike and a 10K run, will wrap up the series Sept. 1.

Approximately two dozen volunteers are needed for the Pasco triathlon. Write to 3RRR president Eric Greager at sageg@charter.net for details.
