Mukilteo’s Mark Strickland and Chris Adams of Moscow, Idaho, moved to the top of the leaderboard, and Richland’s Minwoo Park made the cut to advance to the third round of the Washington State Men’s Amateur Championship at Eagle’s Pride Golf Course at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Strickland and Adams each had a two-round total of 134, supplanting first-round leader Sean McMullen. The Kent resident’s two-round total of 139 (65-74) dropped him into third place with Olympia’s Casey Adams (68-71).
Park just made the cut of 60, shooting a two-round total of 157 (79-78) and landing in a four-way tie at 59th place. He will tee off in the first group at 7:30 a.m. today.
Richland’s Josh Harvey totaled 165 (84-81), finishing in 79th place with Renton’s Andrew Besett (83-82).

PNGA Senior Amateur Championship: Dick Cartmell shot an 80 to tie for 24th place, and Chris Indall, also from Richland, tied for 37th place with an 82 after the first round Wednesday in Cle Elum. Richland’s Ed Mackan shot an 82 as he filtered into a five-way tie for 12th in the Super Senior division. Kennewick’s Pat Conway shot an 85 to place in a six-way tie for 15th place in the open division competition. The second round starts at 7 a.m. today.
Oregon Open Invitational: Corey Prugh of Manito G&CC posted a two-round 7-under-par 137 (68-69) to take the lead Wednesday at Broken Top Club in Bend, Ore.
Michael Combs led the six-member Canyon Lakes GC contingent tied at 17th place on the board and, along with Steve Stull, Nick Mandell and Jeff Bender, made the final cut of 70 for today's third and final round of play.
Combs shot a two-round 1-under par 143 (71-72), and is followed by Stull, who tied four others at 20th place with 144 (74-70), Nick Mandell (tied 39th, 76-71--147), Jeff Bender (tied 44th, 76-72--148), Nick Atkin (tied 115th, 80-79--159) and Dan O’Berg (tied 137th, 83-80--163).
Bender will tee off at 9:04 a.m. today, followed by Mandell (9:24 a.m.), Stull (10:27 a.m.) and Combs (10:37 a.m.)
