* 1988 -- Jeff Bumgarner, a 1985 Hanford High graduate selected 13th overall in baseball's 1985 amateur draft by the Minnesota Twins, was part of a five-player trade with the New York Mets. The deal sent Bumgarner to the Mets. Among those players headed to the Twins were second baseman Wally Backman. Backman later would manage the Tri-City Posse.

* 1984 -- Billy Walker paced Connell with 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Eagles opened their YVA East schedule with a 70-27 domination of DeSales.

* 1971 -- Embee Shaw scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Larry Holloway added 13 points as the Columbia Basin College men's basketball team defeated visiting Big Bend 94-63 at Pasco High.
