* 1984: Kiona-Benton got pins from Willie Miller, Rich Henry, John Vickerman, Kevin Howe and Ron Barr as the Bears defeated Pasco 32-26 in a nonleague wrestling dual.

* 1969: Chuck Matteson scored 23 of his 28 points in the second half as Kiona-Benton snapped a 17-17 halftime tie with a second-half splurge of points that yielded a 75-45 victory over host Mabton.

* 1947: Gene Conley scored a game-high 15 points, hitting 11 of 12 shots, but the Richland Bombers came up short in a 32-29 loss to Wapato in boys basketball. It was the first game at Richland for coach Art Dawald, who took over after winning a pair of Class B state titles at Colfax. The Bombers filled up the Columbia High School gym until more than 100 people had to be turned away.
