* 1969 -- Bill Donckers and Frank Miller combine on a 90-yard touchdown pass to lead the Columbia Basin College football team to a 21-14 road win over the Wenatchee Black Knights at the Apple Bowl. The Hawks, ranked 17th in the nation, also got a big play on defense when Dory Clausnitzer returned a fumble 46 yards for a score in the final minutes.

* 1957 -- Coach Fran Rish's Richland football team is less concerned with defending state champion Walla Walla -- the Bombers won 20-0 -- than the Asian flu that's going around. Rish talked about getting flu shots for his entire team, with a big test against Pasco coming the following week. Richland held Wa-Hi QB Don Davis to just three completions and 29 yards passing.
