All four locals in championship flight fall in PNGA

Southridge junior-to-be Nick Mandell advanced to the second round Wednesday of the 57th PNGA Junior Boys Amateur Championships in Sunriver, Ore., but lost to Medford, Ore. golfer Dylan Wu 2 and 1.

Mandell defeated Tumwater's Seth Nickerson 4 and 3 in the first round at Sunriver Resort-Meadows, a par-71 course.

DeSales graduate Ryan Baumgart lost 4 and 3 to Clarkston's Michael Baldeck in the first round, while Pasco's Samson Martinez lost 2 and 1 to Enumclaw's Tyler Salsbury and Orting's Joseph Harvie defeated Richland's Jeff Marcum 2 up.

No. 1 seed Kelly Campbell from Auburn leads four of the top five seeds into today's quarterfinals.

In the first flight, Richland's Hunter Thompson is into the semfinals after defeating Eugene's Brent Pollock 3 and 2. Tanner Martin joins him in the semis, after Martin knocked off Boise's Mark Brassey 3 and 1.
