KENNEWICK -- Tri-Cities cable subscribers have another reason to cheer that the NFL season is near.
The NFL and Charter Communications on Monday announced that the NFL Network will be available on Charter in time for the start of the 2011 season.
Charter is the fourth-largest cable operator in the United States and is the cable provider for the Tri-Cities. An agent with the company confirmed the channel, which will be available on the Digital View Plus tier in standard and high definition, will be offered in all markets.
The agreement will put NFL Network in about 60 million homes, up from about 57 million, out of the nation's approximately 116 million households with televisions. The deal will also add the NFL RedZone channel to Charter's sports tier. RedZone bounces around to key moments in each game on Sundays.
NFL Network is now available through seven of the eight largest television service providers, with Time Warner the only exception.
