YAKIMA -- Hanford placed first in the Dance and Kick categories on Friday at the WIAA 3A Drill/Dance state championship at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
The Falcons were the defending champions in the two events and received Superior ratings for their performances, earning scores of 459 (dance) and 465 (kick) and were also rated as "exceptional" in pom (fifth, 426).
Pasco took the title in the Show event with an exceptional rating of 440 and placed third in hip-hop with 476 behind Sunnyside (first, 484) and Shorecrest (second, 480).
The Kamiakin squad was rated exceptional in Hip-Hop (fifth, 424) and excellent in pom (10th, 377) and Southridge shadowed Hanford in two events, also rating superior in dance (second, 459) and exceptional in pom (sixth, 414).
The top three placers in the drill down event were Rylan Bonnevie of Lakes, Columbia River's Naomi Barry and Shorewood's Pauline Douglas.
