8-race card opens Sun Downs' weekend schedule

KENNEWICK — The third of five racing weekends at Sun Downs begins today with an eight-race card.

Sunday's 10-race card will feature the $22,450 Pot O'Gold Futurity at 300 yards, featuring the 10 fastest 2-year-olds from the trials two weeks ago.

But before we get to the Pot O'Gold, there's today's slate, which includes a $2000 quarter horse allowance race at 350 yards.

Shazoomin for Honor, ridden by Brian Merrill and owned and trained by William Willis, is the oddsmaker's favorite at 2-to-1 odds.

Post time today is at 1:30 p.m.

Trey Fecta

After starting the season with an imaginary $500 bankroll, Trey begins the third weekend with $434.60.

He starts the day by picking Del Mar Bound at $5 across the board. Pick him for the first half of the daily double too.

Peachofaree gets the second half of the daily double call, plus Trey is combining him with Craft Reasoning for an exacta box.

In the third, it's a $6 quinella of Joy Be Fast and Huracan Bagabundo.

For the fourth, we're boxing a trifecta of Western Warrior, I C a Charm, and Whatsamillion.

In the fifth, Lord Latigo looks good at $5 across the board.

Shazoomin for Honor and Lookin for Amillion makes a great exacta box in the sixth; while a trifecta box of Clever Steal, I'llmakeyoufamous and Trudy's Bianca is the call for the seventh.

We're also picking Trudy's Bianca (seventh) and Dutch Apple (eighth) for the late daily double.

Combining Dutch Apple, Black Canyon Bart and Rush Ahead for a trifecta box in the eighth.

That's $66 in wagers.
