* 1990 -- The Richland boys basketball team came away from Art Dawald Gym with an 82-74 overtime victory against Kamiakin. The Braves scored the first point in OT, but the Bombers responded by calmly making 10 of 13 free throws. Nate Holdren and Shawn Edmond scored 20 points apiece to lead Richland. Todd Schumacher had a game-high 23 points for Kamiakin.

* 1990 -- Clint Didier of the Green Bay Packers scored seven points and was the leading rebounder for the Connell alumni team, but it wasn't enough in a 79-72 loss to the Eagles' varsity crew. "He's a big boy," Connell coach Jim Colclasure said of Didier. "The game was very physical."

* 1980 -- Richland won its ninth consecutive district gymnastics championship to advance to regionals with runner-up Wenatchee and third-place Prosser.

* 1978 -- Maria Loos had 21 points -- mostly from the inside -- and hauled in 14 rebounds as Royal City upset undefeated Naches 51-43 to take the Yakima Valley A League championship with a 16-2 record.
